5 Biggest Features of WoW Patch 10.1.5

We haven't even had enough time to enjoy the latest WoW update which is the amazing Embers of Neltharion – and yet we already get lots of intel about the next patch! It's called "Fractures in Time" and it looks quite promising for a non-major update. We can't imagine something like this being possible in Shadowlands or Battle for Azeroth or before that. It looks like having extended the WoW development team was a brilliant idea indeed since we get way more value per patch now. So we've gathered 5 most exciting announced additions and listed them below for you to check them all out!

New Dungeon: Dawn of the Infinite

We'd never believe that a mega dungeon can be a part of a minor update yet here we are. The announcement didn't come as a surprise, of course, since we had the roadmap featuring a dungeon coming between patches 10.1 and 10.2 since the beginning of the year. But it's still a new pleasant feeling that you can't get used to too fast.

As for the dungeon itself, the idea of it is similar to what we had in previous expansions with Tazavesh (Shadowlands), Mechagon (Battle for Azeroth), and Return to Karazhan (Legion). It will feature 8 bosses instead of 4 and will be later divided into 2 dungeons for the Mythic Plus mode.

The content of the dungeon, however, is brand new: it's going to be themed around the Infinite Dragonflight which is known for its time-traveling abilities. You will fight the corrupted time dragons including... Chromie! But not Chromie itself as we know them – it will be the "evil" version of them known as Morchie. Morchie looks like a goth teenager which makes it all even more hilarious! The dungeon will also feature Galakrond in some form which is also quite interesting since this dragon-monster is believed to have died long ago. it looks like we'll soon find out if that's the truth...

Before this dungeon is released...

New Spec: Evoker Augmentation

This is the first time in the history of the game when a class gets an entire new spec in a patch. Granted, we had something similar with druids but it was a bit different. Druids used to have 3 specs and 1 of them (feral) was customizable enough to have 2 absolutely different builds in it: 1 for melee DPS (cat) and 1 for tank (bear). So Blizzard just, well, decoupled those builds and divided the spec into 2 new ones: feral and guardian. They didn't really invent anything with that.

But evoker gets a brand new spec and it looks like the role it's going to play in parties is going to be unique. The developers call it a "support" spec which is not the same as "healer". What the gameplay of it is going to be like, is yet to be seen, but we're all for new formulas for game classes! The traditional tank-healer-DPS scheme got old long time ago. Congratulations to those who main evokers, anyway! And here's hoping demon hunters will get some love in the future too (Blizz, come on, why do they still only have 2 specs?).

Prepare your Evoker!

Dragonriding in the rest of Azeroth

Some of you wanted it to happen much sooner, some of you dreaded it would ever come to pass. So here we are talking about this becoming a reality. Dragonriding is now going to be available throughout the rest of Azeroth. What exactly does that mean? Or, to be precise, where exactly does that mean? Do Blizzard mean "all other places except the Dragon Isles" with it? Or do they literally mean Azeroth? This is still a question to be answered but anyway. Orgrimmar and Stormwind are going to be on the list of the serviced zones for sure. We're not so certain about Outland, Draenor, Shadowlands, and Vashj'ir (okay, just kidding about the last one). You now will have a choice: to ride a regular mount with all the regular rules applied or to summon your special dragon who can achieve much higher speed yet requires more handling.

And yes, about that word "special' before the dragon: you now will be able to use any dragon mount for dragonriding, not just the 5 Dragon Isles' ones. It's weird that all other flying mounts are excluded but then again, it's called DRAGON riding for a reason, right? Despite that we really hope that in the nearest future it will turn into just wind riding or something like that to let every mount in.

Another flying-related addition is the so-called grand-prix of Azeroth which is just a set of new racing tracks for you to fly through even more hoops at. If there are enthusiasts of that among you, cheer!

New race options for Warlock

Dragonflight has been slowly taking us towards the dream of many alt enthusiasts: to finally have most classes available to all races. We've seen this trend in previous patches with rogues and priests becoming available for everyone (except dracthyr, of course, but their time will come soon, we're sure). Now we have the same happening to warlocks and it's really great. That old boring limitation of classes was absolutely unnecessary. And if there was at least some sense in it in the early days of the game (mostly technical), right now it looks very dated. So thankfully, it's been getting rectified.

The new race options for Warlock are:

Alliance

  • Night elves
  • Draenei
  • Pandaren
  • Lightforged Draenei
  • Kul-Tiran

Horde
  • Tauren
  • Pandaren
  • Highmountain Tauren
  • Mag'har Orcs
  • Zandalari Trolls
Yeah, demonic cows and pandas incoming. Also, a unique Warlock pet gets some customization options: imp. It might not be the most popular one right now amongst the high-level Warlocks but it's still a lovely addition.

New Public Event: Time Rifts

So far it's not exactly clear what this is going to be like. Too little information has been given to be certain at least. But our educated guess would be that it's something resembling assaults that we had with different names since the Legion days. Just some random events happening all around the latest continent (the Dragon Isles): a bunch of infinite dragons has spawned in Azure Span, go cull them all, and get some rewards. So it might become a good source of catching-up gear and the like but it's yet to be proved. Also, we really hope that these events can be made more exciting at least in some way. There's no need to make them super hard but adding at least some depth to them might be a good idea.
