5 New Rewards for Recruit-a-Friend in WoW: What are they?
Finally here's another update of the Recruit-a-Friend system in WoW! The previous one – with all those archaeology transmog and stuff – was quite a success since it offered an easy-to-understand and swag-rich motivation for players. You want to get all those numerous awesome rewards? No problem, just make sure to bring as many friends to WoW as possible! And it worked and everyone was happy with it! But the time has come to make some changes: the old rewards are going (for good? who knows!) and the new ones are arriving. In this brief and sweet article we'll show you all the new additions to the RAF system reward lineup in patch 10.0.7.
How to get all these rewards?
Here's how it works step-by-step:
- You invite a friend to WoW with the help of a referral link (you can find it in the game in the Social window – there's a special tab for it)
- They purchase a subscription
- You get the rewards based on how many months they have paid for and played
The last one might seem rather tricky and that's because it is. If you want to get all the rewards, you need to wait till your friend pays for 6 months. But you will only get one reward right away – the rest will become available with time. Say, the second reward will be unlocked after the first paid month of your friend's account ends and the second one begins. Let's take a look at an example:
- Ann invites Bob to WoW with the help of a referral link
- Bob pays for 3 months on June 1
- Ann gets the Volatile Self-Driving Toolbox pet (1-month reward) right away on June 1
- On July 1 Ann gets the second reward – Shredderizing Glove
- On August 1 Ann gets the third reward – Sappy Buddy
And so on. If Bob pays for more months, Ann will get more rewards in the same fashion. But it works this way only when you have just one friend invited with the RAF link. You can invite several friends and you will unlock rewards faster. So if Ann invites Bob and Chris and those 2 newbies will both pay for at least a month, Ann will get 2 rewards right away: both Volatile Self-Driving Toolbox and Shredderizing Glove. Hence, all the 5 rewards will come twice as soon. The maximum number of such friends is 4. So you can have up to 4 rewards a month like that. There is a way to overcome this limitation but we'll tell you about it later. For now this is all you need to know before getting to the rewards.
Each reward below has this "get it for" line. Now you should understand what it means. It means how may months you friends have to pay for to get you that reward.
Pet: a Walking Toolbox
In-game name: Volatile Self-Driving Toolbox
Get it for: 1 month
It's a self-moving robot goblin head (with tiny funny legs!) that can also participate in pet battles. It looks really menacing as if it could explode at any moment. Since it's a goblin invention, the possibility of that is quite high! Here are some facts for pet battle lovers: at level 25 this little toolkit with legs is going to have 1420 HP, 288 power, and 276 speed.
Main Hand Xmog: a Chainsaw
In-game name: Shredderizing Glove
Get it for: 2 months
Isn't it cool to shredder your enemies with a chainsaw glove? Well, Blizzard think that it is. And if you have a character who usually uses fist weapons, you might try doing that too. The problem is that not many classes equip this type of weapon so our guess is that this transmog thing won't be too popular. Yet it's still a good idea to have it in your wardrobe!
Back Xmog: a Barrel with a Goblin
In-game name: Sappy Buddy
Get it for: 3 months
If you need a friend who's got your back all the time, here's a great option. This sappy buddy is basically a goblin sitting in a barrel waiting to explode – either themselves, or something else. It's quite an exotic item to have in your back slot but some goblin RP players might find it the best available thing in the game!
Head Xmog: a Goblin-themed Scanner
In-game name: S.C.A.N.N.E.R. Mk3
Get it for: 5 months
This is a lovely goblin-themed helmet with some sort of green scanner built in it. It's a good addition to all the stuff above but it hardly has anything else special about it. There seems to be a crack on its left part though – but that's okay! 'Tis but a scratch – imagine what can happen to gear after all those goblin experiments! This helmet was lucky to make it one piece!
Mount: a Shredder
In-game name: Rocket Shredder 9001
Get it for: 6 months
Now here's the glorious rocket shredder mount! The version 9001 goes over nine thousand and that's absolutely glorious! This mount can fly of course, it's not just a ground one. If you're a fan of this aesthetics, this ride might become a welcome addition to your garage!

So that's it! There are fewer rewards this time than it was before but they are still quite fun! And as we have mentioned previously, there's a way to unlock them all at once – without having to wait for several months! The solution is our RAF boost!
