Classes of Black Desert Online 3: from Maegu to Nova

Surprisingly, there are lots of classes in BDO starting with M! All these 5 classes have at least one assassin spec, although they all have distinct playstyles that make them not similar at all. Mystic and Nova are the only ones who offer something except assassination. The game is literally full of damage-dealers of all kinds and it's not our fault that most our guides are full of them! It's just they are numerous and fun to play, hence Pearl Abyss keeps adding them to the game. Alright, without further ado, let's get to our classes starting with...

Mystic offers more flexibility than most other classes. You can enjoy both a tank and an assassin role when you choose to play her: that will be the succession and awakening lines, respectively. The succession Mystic is full of crowd control spells, resistance, and sustainability. She can easily pick up a fight with several opponents at once but... don't expect her to kill them all! She has a capability to survive such an encounter but her damage won't be enough to defeat them – that's what her teammates are expected to do. So this is more of a team player spec. As for the awakening spec, it's a pure melee assassin that trades off most of its utility for damage. That makes you less able to sustain damage and survive but you won't really have to do that. Your role is just obliterating targets, you don't have to stand in front of them all day for that!

Yet another assassin in the BDO's class lineup. This is one of the most obvious assassin options though as you'd hardly expect any other role for ninja to take. The succession ninja is a pure melee assassin with all that stealthy sneaking and coming to enemies unnoticed from behind to deliver a fatal hit (that is, damage burst). Expectedly, it's very vulnerable and you won't really want to stand in your enemy's line of fire for too long. The awakening ninja, however, can do that with more success as it has more protection. The awakening gives you more options to fight enemies 1-on-1 while facing each other. Both specs are good and have great damage but they are notoriously hard to play. So if you're new to the game or have never played assassins in it before, you'd better not think of ninja as your primary choice.

Nova is a hybrid class that offers you 2 different roles to try out: a tank and an assassin. It's always a good thing since you can get 2 drastically different playstyles without switching characters. Nova is infamous for her Nova-wall that drives her opponents insane as it's hard to break the thick defence that it creates. Her succession kit is pure tank: she moves slowly, loses health even slower, deals little damage but has lots of crowd control and can sustain damage for long. Her only problem is lack of convincing self-healing effects so she might be more team-reliant than some other tanks in this regard which doesn't make her bad at all.

The awakening Nova is a melee assassin who's expected to jump around the battlefield and eliminate targets one by one before they eliminate Nova. It's a very strong contrast and your health goes down to 0 within seconds when you play the awakening Nova. That's compensated with damage and movement spells that allow her to literally dodge bullets, magic bolts, arrows, and whatnot. The awakening spec is also harder to learn to play but that isn't really surprising.
