How to Unlock Druid Swift Flying Form in WoW TBC?

Learn how to get the 280% flying form in just 3 steps!

As Phase 2 of WoW TBC arrives, druids will get a lovely addition to their spellbook: a swift flying form. It's an upgraded version of their current flying form (yes, we all, except druids of course, think that it's a cheat – see a brief rant about it below).

In this small blog post learn more about how the new form is better than the regular one, what the requirements are, and what 3 steps you have to take to get access to it.

Why do I need it?

Man, it feels good to be a druid in TBC: you don't even have to wait till level 70 to start flying, since your first flying form is available at level 68 and costs 8 gold 60 silver. It turns on instantly, you can turn it on while falling down, you can gather herbs with it – who says it's imbalanced? Well, it is imbalanced! But never mind haters – just go get it and enjoy your flight. However, there's a catch.

The regular flying form has its drawback, even though it's hard to believe. Yes, you save about 800 gold with it but you still have one reason to remain unsatisfied: it gives you "only" 60% speed increase. While it's cool to be able to fly with such an insane advantage, you will still have to switch to the ground mount with 100% speed increase – otherwise you will lose lots of time, since you fly slower than you run.

So Blizzard decided to make up for this inconvenience and give druids a legit 280% speed increase with a swift flying form. This time you will have to spend more gold (but still less than other classes) and go through a lengthy questline that culminates with the Raven Lord kill.

But it's well worth the effort – not only you will get a very fast flying form that has all the advantages of the regular one, but also you will basically get the proverbial fishing rod that will help you get more gold than most players around you: you will get the ability to summon the Anzu boss, and since the mount it drops is so desirable by many, you'll be able to give paid dungeon tours to players on your realm.

Here's a short preview of what you're going to need to start the questline:

Step 1. 70 Lvl & Artisian Riding

↑ Back to the top ↑

Getting a 280% flight speed at a level below 70 would have been too imbalanced even for druids, so Blizzard made this requirement: first get the max level! We can help you with that, if you feel nauseous at the thought of getting another alt to the max lvl – check out our power leveling.

Another prerequisite is purchasing Artisian Riding (aka 300 Riding or Riding 300). And well, this is the first place where things get really difficult: this skill costs 5000 gold. Five thousand, yes, and it's TBC, not retail. If you're lucky to have a fortune that large, just go to the Shadowmoon Valley and turn your coins right in. If you're not, well... You can spend some time farming and questing non-stop or just get a little assistance from us for a fast solution. As soon as you've parted with your hard-earned wealth you're good to proceed to step 2.

But wait, there's another thing. Although it's not compulsory for starting the quest chain, the access to the Heroic Sethekk Halls will become compulsory to advance with it just 2 quests before you get the flying form. To avoid an unpleasant surprise you better get it in advance – naturally, we can help you with that too. It takes some reputation farm which we'll take care of fast.

Step 2. The Questline

↑ Back to the top ↑

The questline you're going to go through is pretty long – and that would be an understatement, really. 17 quests in numerous parts of the Outland, some of which are rather tedious. To start it you should chat with any druid trainer to get the Morthis Whispering quest. Lots of experienced druids recommend teleporting to Moonglade to get the quest and then heartstone back to your favorite Outland inn – from there you'll need to venture to the Cenarion outpost in Zangarmarsh.

And that's where it only starts. It's harder to name an Outland zone that you won't visit than those that you will – trust us, it's going to be a long and winding road. After this chain of exciting "go get it" and "go chat with that guy" tasks you suddenly get the Chasing the Moonstone quest that sends you right to the lousiest place of Azeroth which happens to be one of the most disconnected from all imaginable infrastructure – Azshara. You play as Alliance? Ah, lucky chap! Despite the location not being the most inspiring one, the quest itself is pretty fun: chasing an evil goblin is one of the most exciting parts of this ordeal. As soon as you get the moonstone back to Zangarmarsh you'll get the final task – Vanquish the Raven God.

Step 3. Anzu

↑ Back to the top ↑

Remember we told you about the access to the Heroic Sethekk Halls? We hope you have it by now, because that's where we're going. Inside the dungeon you need to get to the room right before the final boss – clear the room from mobs and activate the moonstone.

(This is where you can summon Anzu)

Anzu appears, swears at you, and you have a thrilling fight with it. Don't forget to cast and keep HOT (healing over time) effects on 3 birds that appear with the boss – they will help you deal with it. After you've defeated the boss, please don't leave the party right away and help your teammates finish the dungeon. Be respectful!

As soon as you're through, get back and turn in the quest. You'll get both the swift flying form and the ability to summon Anzu in the Heroic Sethekk Halls whenever you want. The latter is a very lucrative kind of business: lots of people are willing to pay pretty penny for a chance to loot one of the most sought-after mounts in TBC, the Reins of the Raven Lord, which Anzu drops with a minuscule chance.
