Season 21 in Destiny 2: What to expect?

Another Destiny 2 season is upon us. This time it's Season 21 also known as the Season of the Deep. The Deep here relates to going underwater in search of... the truth of some kind. Yes, sounds weird, but that's what this season is going to be about according to Bungie. As it's usually the case with upcoming releases in Destiny 2, not much is known as there's no some sort of a public test server for everyone interested to take a look at the new stuff at. So what's left to us is gathering all those grains of valuable information that the "generous" guys from Bungie let us. It's not much but it's at least something. Hence in this post we'll discuss the theme and the new zones, new gear, and new weapons. Let's go!

What's the general theme?

This teaser makes it clear that we're in for a great beach season with lots of diving and swimming. Hopefully, it will be as fun to play as it sounds. Getting some seaside fantasy before being able to go to the seaside (it's not even summer!) is great but the implementation of it all as well as the gameplay experience should are of more importance. Unfortunately, Bungie are known to not always deliver the right thing, so here's hoping for something really good this time.

Return to Titan

This great video by Evaze sums up all that we already know and gives you some ideas for speculation. What we can be absolutely sure about is that we're getting back to Titan (the moon, not the class!). The water-surface moon of Saturn is going to be our primary hub for the upcoming season and its new underwater zone holds lots of secrets (and water too, obviously). We have already been to Titan before in Destiny 2 and it's a really great move to take us back to an already existing location instead of creating something new and leaving legacy content to rot.

The author of the vide above, Evaze, notes that in the teaser we get a glimpse of an underwater monster that we could already spot on Titan before. There wasn't much about it back then: we could only see the scales of it and the shape of it through potholes. This time we're likely to get more of that huge creature and it even might be a hint of what to expect in the new dungeon.

Acquatic-themed armor

Season 21 in Destiny 2: What to expect?

These outfits looks great and really fitting to the theme of the season. The chances are high that these sets will be a part of the season pass but as of now there's no certainty on that. Anyway, it's great to see such mesmerizing armor added to the game! We definitely need more high-effort gear like that to put on our guardians despite the fact that the game is first-person and we don't see them much! Others do seem them though! Self-expression is an important thing after all, as well as just indulging in equipping swag every once in a while.

Last Rite scout rifle

Season 21 in Destiny 2: What to expect?

We might get even more additions to our arsenal but the only weapon that is officially confirmed so far is the Last Rite shotgun which is a new ritual weapon. It will have lots of ornaments and you will get as many ways to entertain yourself during this season. This season's weaponry is said to be influenced by the Wild West, but quite frankly... We'd not say that looking at the Last Rite. Maybe there's something else in store to convince us? Let's hope for that!

***

We can imagine a reader yelling "Is that all?". And yes, that's all so far. You now how miserly those Bungies are. Keeping the details of every upcoming release top-secret and eyes-only. Sometimes it leads to really great surprises but sometimes it leads to disappointments and indifference. Let's hope that this time we'll get the former!
