Top-5 Black Desert Online grinding spots – 2023

Grinding is surprisingly one of the most popular endgame activities in Black Desert Online. High-end characters can often be seen hanging around particular spawn spots of mobs cutting them by hundreds. And they spend hours on end doing what seems like something extremely repetitive and boring. And for some players it actually is...

But it's not done just for fun. In fact, you can collect lots of valuable stuff this way. Silver is the most obvious one as any defeated mobs virtually bursts with it. You pick up the coins and carry on with your horrible, horrible slaughter. Another important valuable is experience. You don't have the maximum level in this game, remember? Hence some experience is always welcome as it takes you closer to the next level (which is never too close, unfortunately – but you can speed it up with our BDO level boost). And finally, there are tons of various reagents used for high-end crafting that you can use to improve your character quite drastically.

If it sounds exciting (or at least sensible), you should know what spots to consider for grinding. Just wandering about the world picking fights with random mobs is not the way to go. You should know for sure. And to help you with that here are our top-5 picks for grinding spots in Black Desert Online (in no particular order):

1. TUNKUTA TUROS

Where: O'dyllita
Level: 60+
Recommended AP: 270+
Silver per hour on average: 499 million

A great grinding spot for basically anyone. Somewhat surprisingly, it comes quite few Agris Fever Points which is remarkable for a high-level spot for sure. It's also quite close to a hub so it's quite convenient to get there too. But that has a side effect: many players choose to grind there so expect competition. It's not all bad, however, since the mobs there are rather tough and having players around to team up with is obviously a good thing. Speaking of items of interest that you can collect here, Flames of Despair are an evident highlight. Other handy drops include Turo's Belt Thick Turo Blood, and Turo Heart.

2. SYCRAIA LOWER ABYSSAL

Where: Island / Water
Level:  60+
Recommended AP:  260+
Silver per hour on average: 501 million

Sycraia Lower Abyssal is a part of underwater ruins experience that is quite well-known among BDO players (some would go as far as to say that it's rather infamous). Despite what some might say, Sycraia is a great grinding spot and you will enjoy your time there for sure. It gives you lots of combat XP and lots of silver. Among its important drops are Tungrad Ring and Caphras Stone – not just them, however, but they are obvious highlights. You can be sure that you're not wasting your time here.

3. GYFIN RHASIA UNDERGROUND

Where: Kamasylvia
Level: 62+
Recommended AP: 300+
Silver per hour on average: 532 million

The lower part of the temple hasn't always been such a great spawn point – it hasn't been used for grinding before lately at all. Now that it's a full-fledged solo grinding spot, you can enjoy yourself slaying numerous mobs there for hours. However, mobs there are not as numerous in most other grinding spots. They are tougher on average, however, which gives you more challenge – but the reward is absolutely worth it, so don't worry. Not only does this grind spot returns you lots of silver for your time spent there, but also it throws valuable mats and items at you like few other zones do. But it's not all just mindless cutting out the temple's population – in fact, there are particular rotations to stick to. For example, every now and then a rare mini-boss Butcher appears. Defeating it is essential for your effectiveness at this grind spot as your damage to local mobs is greatly increased with the buff you get after killing the boss. And that's just one such hint.

Here's a good detailed video on how to handle this grind zone from OhohoTV:

4. QUINT HILL

Where: Elvia Calpheon
Level: 61+
Recommended AP: 310+
Silver per hour on average: 637 million

You can find this hill in the Northwestern part of Calpheon. Unfortunately, local trolls love this place a lot and hang out on the hill all the time. Mobs there are not very numerous but they are tougher than most others so take care. If you bring along any tools of the trade other than your weapons, you will also be able to collect some birch timber and red tree lump (if you're into lumbering) as well as lead ore and powder of time (if you're a dedicated miner). As for the strategy to stick to, slay small trolls, then medium trolls, then big trolls. At some point this will lead to the summoning of an extra large troll that you gotta take care of to get some lovely rewards. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.

CritHappens explains it quite well:

5. HEXE SANCTUARY

Where: Elvia Calpheon
Level: 61+
Recommended AP: 300+
Silver per hour on average: 655 million

Hexe Sanctuary must be the most lucrative grinding spot at the moment. You're likely to earn more silver here than anywhere else (especially if you use a yellow loot scroll). Partly that's because of an anomalously big number of mobs. They are undead orcs and they are really, really numerous. Your grind will primarily involve slaying orc skeleton warriors and skeleton witmirths.

Sometimes, however, things will get a bit more exciting when your activity will attract the local boss, Hexe Marie. It's her sanctuary that you've intruded, right! She spawns soulless soldiers that keep exploding dealing lots of AOE damage. It's recommended to deal with her using Agris Fever since there are so many additional enemies.
