WoW Class sets of Amirdrassil – Cloth

Another new raid, another new fashion week in WoW! Let's see what Blizzard's best armor designers have come up to for the Amirdrassil raid. Today we'll take a look at cloth sets. They are dedicated for 3 veteran classes of:

  • Mages
  • Priests
  • Warlocks
Since recently every race can choose all these classes. That means that there are really many characters who can obtain them during the Emerald Dream content cycle (after it too, but who cares about that?). Let's go over them one by one.

Mage sets

Designers got a bit silly about the Mage set design this time. That ginormous hat with wide brims is just hilarious. The whole set has something Pratchett-esque about it. This is what Rincewind might have looked like, had he been a character in World of Warcraft. The pink boots for the Heroic set are just marvellous too! We're not sure what this set has to do with the Emerald Dream or the Green Dragonflight, or the Druids of the Flame – but we surely love it and want more such ironic things to appear as raid gear.

Now to something a bit more serious. What about Mage bonuses for this set? Let's see:

specsWHAT'S UPGRADED2-ITEM BONUS4-ITEM BONUS
ARCANEClearcasting, Arcane MissilesClearcasting: get +2% spell damage for 15 sec for each consumed Clearcasting. It stacks up to 5 times (for a 10% bonus total)Arcane Missiles: +75% damage and deal damage to several targets near the primary one. Activate this bonus by consuming Clearcasting 6 times.
FIREPyroblast, Flamestrike, CombustionSearing Rage: +3% crit strike for 12 sec (stacks up to 5 times). This buff is applied to you when your Pyroblast or Flamestrike does a crit strikeSearing Rage: +100% to the crit strike bonus for 12 sec. Activate this effect with using Combustion
FROSTGlacial SpikeGlacial Spike: +10% damage and it explodes upon shattering a frozen target. When it happens, 20% of the damage it's dealt to the primary target is dealt to up to 8 nearby targets.Glacial Spike: auto casts Brain Freeze with a 40% chance

These bonuses are good in a way that they are quite straightforward. The Frost bonuses , for example, focus on making Glacial Strike a more powerful and important spell for your rotation. Other specs have a more versatile set of bonuses which is also good.

Priest sets

The Priest set from Amirdrassil looks like you'd expect a Priest armor set to look like. But there's hardly anything Amirdrassilic about it though. The set has this medieval look about it with all those angels and circles, and hoods, and metal boots. It's alright, we'd say.

As for its stats, here's what priests are gonna get this time:

specsWHAT'S UPGRADED2-ITEM BONUS4-ITEM BONUS
DISCIPLINESmite, Penance, Atonement+20% damage to Smite and Penance. +2 sec duration to active Atonement after using SmiteWhen you use Shadow Covenant, you automatically cast Smite that deals Shadow damage
HOLYHoly Word: Serenity, Holy Word: Sanctify, RenewRenew is applied for 14 sec automatically after you've used Holy Word: Serenity. Also, Renew is applied for 5 sec automatically after you've used Holy Word: SanctifyHoly Word: Serenity and Sanctify can be cast without consuming charges and at half the Mana price. That effect can be triggered by Renew's healing. It stacks up to 2 times
SHADOWShadow Word: Death, Shadow Word: Pain, Deathspeaker, Shadow CrashShadow Word: Death auto applies to the target 2 extra times. If you have active Deathspeaker or the target is below 20% health, a third auto application of it happensShadow Word: Pain and Shadow Crash get +250% damage and +50% damage, respectively, after you've taken damage from Shadow Word: Death. That bonus is granted by the buff Death's Torment and it can be stacked up to 12 times
All in all, Priest bonuses look quite lovely too. They might be a bit complex (especially the Shadow one) but the resulting enhancement is worth it anyway. An interesting thing happens to your Smite when you have the 4-piece bonus – it can deal Shadow damage which is something particularly peculiar.

Warlock sets

Warlock's set is quite... Warlocky. That is, all those horns and skulls, and the robe – we've seen it hundreds of times and it's quite puzzling to put your finger on a particular older set that this one could be inspired with. Anyway, this is yet another set that lacks some apparent connection to the Emerald Dream. And it's such a pity. Of course, set designs can be anything with the only rule here being that their visuals must be appealing. But we'd truly love to have sets that would also tell the story of where they come from – not only who they are meant for. And this one is definitely meant for a Warlock and it fits the class very well.

Well, alright, let's take a look at what Warlock bonuses you can get with those sets:

specs
UPGRADE FOR2-ITEM BONUS4-ITEM BONUS
AFFLICTIONSoul RotSoul Rot: +15% damage and +4 sec durationSoul Rot: use it to upgrade several of your abilities for 12 sec:
  • next 3 Malefic Raptures: +50% damage
  • Agony, Corruption, Unstable Affliction,Haunt, Vile Tain, Phantom Singularity: +2 sec duration
DEMONOLOGYDemonbolt
  • Demonbolt: apply the Doom Brand debuff with it to the target
  • Doom Brand: explodes after 20 sec to deal Shadow damage to the targets in its vicinity. Use Demonbolt and Hand of Gul'dan to speed up the expiration by 1 sec per cast
  • Hand of Gul'dan: +15% damage
  • Doom Brand: upon expiration it can now summon a Doomfiend minion. It deals Shadow damage to the target every 3 sec (15 sec duration)
DESTRUCTIONImmolate, Dimensional RiftImmolate: +20% damage. Its damage-on-time can give you a Dimensional Rift charge
  • Dimensional Rift: it now summons Flame Rift
  • Flame Rift: upon summoning, it launches 20 Searing Bolts that deal Fire damage to one target and apply a Fire DOT on other targets nearby
That's just great! The Flame Rift looks especially interesting as it must have really noticeable impact on fights. Demonology also gets an extra summoning in the shape of a Doomfiend who can be spawned with the set-related Doom Brand effect. All in all, the effects are quite pleasant, so this set is definitely a must for you, if you play Warlock!

So to sum up what we've learned about the cloth sets, let's look at these points:

  • they all have great bonuses, all classes and specs
  • mages have ridiculously huge hats and that's awesome
  • priests and warlocks' sets are more on the safe side design-wise (but they are still good)
Yeah, that would be it. If you need any help with collecting all the set pieces to enjoy the bonuses these sets have, browse our Amirdrassil catalog or simply get in touch to request any assistance you might need!
