WoW Class sets of Amirdrassil – Plate

Amirdrassil is the raid of the Emerald Deam-inspired patch 10.2. It will undoubtedly become one of the highlights of the Dragonflight expansions. And some of its raid class sets will remain among the best ones in the game's history, for sure.

In this particular blog post we'll take a look at plate sets and see how good their appearance is and what their bonuses are. You'll learn all there is to know about the heaviest equipment of the Dream's Hope.

Death Knight

Death Knights are covered with spikes this time: they come out of all the places of the armor. Well, you could say that they literally look sharp. The skill mask without eyes is an interesting idea although an awkward one, practicality-wise. In general the set looks quite fitting for the class: this outfit is all about pain and decay.

Now let's look at bonuses. Let's take them one spec at a time:

Blood bonuses
  • What gets upgraded: Heart Strike
  • 2-item bonus: It now has a chance to apply the debuff Ashen Decay after one of your Bone Shield charges has been consumed. Ashen Decay: -10% damage to the target, +20% to you for 8 sec.
  • 4-item bonus: Ashen Decay now can be applied with Soulreaper (execute damage) and Abomination Limb. Heart Strike and Blood Boil add 1 sec to Ashen Decay's duration.
Frost bonuses
  • What gets upgraded: Chill Streak
  • 2-item bonus: +4 yds of range. It can now also bounce off of you. Whenever it bounces off a target, you get +4% damage for 10 sec (stacks up to 5 times).
  • 4-item bonus: +2 bounces. Each bounce has a 40% chance to trigger any of these 3 effects: get a rune; speed up Chill Streak cooldown (5 sec); speed up Empower Rune Weapon cooldown (10 sec)
Unholy bonuses
  • What gets upgraded: Apocalypse
  • 2-item bonus: +1 minion: Magus of the Dead. Magus' Dead Shadow Bolt now shoots a volley of shadow bolts at nearby targets (up to 4 of them will be hit).
  • 4-item bonus: Magus +0.5 sec duration for each rune spent. Magus gets a new buff: Amplify Damage (+5% damage to you for 10 sec).
These bonuses surely look sweet. We suppose that unholies are especially content with a new minion in their gang!

Paladin

Paladin's set looks very pally. It looks heavy, it looks light and bright, it makes an impression of something a noble knight could put on. All in all, it raises no questions of whether it belong to the class' phantasy – it obviously does. The ornament and other decorations makes it more of a Blood Elvian thing, perhaps, but we're sure that other races will also look great in it.

Now let's see what bonuses it offer for different specs:

Holy bonuses
  • What gets upgraded: Glimmer of Light, Daybreak
  • 2-item bonus: Whenever Glimmer of Light expires or gets refreshed, the buff Holy Reverberation is applied to an ally or a hostile target. It heals the former and damages the latter for 8 sec. The effect can stack up to 3 times.
  • 4-item bonus: Daybreak's cooldown speeds up by 15 sec.
Protection bonuses
  • What gets upgraded: Judgement, Consecration
  • 2-item bonus: Each cast of it gives you a stack of the Sanctification effect (+1% armor). Once you've reached 10 stacks, your next Consecration gets +200% to healing & damage, while its radius gets +30%. As the Consecration's power-up ends, Sanctification stacks disappear.
  • 4-item bonus: Before your powered-up Consecration goes away, your spells can do +20% damage / healing as fire.
Retribution bonuses
  • What gets upgraded: Expurgation
  • 2-item bonus: Expugnation: +3 sec, +50% damage. When you use Judgement or Divine Toll on targets with Expugnation, the debuff Wrathful Sanction is applied to them. It strikes the target and nearby foes with Holy damage (up to 4 enemies close to the target).
  • 4-item bonus: Wrathful Sanctions apply the buff Echoes of Wrath to you. it makes your Templar's Verdict and Divine Storm deal a second strike right after the first one (50% of the first one's power). Judgement doesn't get consumed in the process!
The power-ups are quite versatile and affect many important spells from the most popular rotations. It's possible to get slightly overwhelmed with this variety but it will make you stronger in many ways at once which is a great thing.

Warrior

Warriors look smooth. A striking contrast with death knights who are all covered with needles. And these sets only have some small spikes on gloves – and they don't even look sharp or menacing. The whole set looks like a well grinded stone.

Now let's look at what special effects it has. This time we'll try a table for that:

specs
UPGRADE FOR2-ITEM BONUS4-ITEM BONUS
ARMSRend, Sudden DeathRend: +30 damage, + chance to trigger Sudden DeathSudden Death: next Execute applies DOT and triggers Thunder Clap (100% additional damage)
FURYOdyn's Fury, BloodthirstOdyn's Fury: +50% damage, it makes next 3 Bloodthirsts deal +150% damage with +100% for crit strike against the primary targetBloodthirst: crits speed up Odyn's Fury cooldown by 2.5 sec
PROTECTIONShield Slam, Thunder Clap, Thunderous RoarShield Slam: you get a chance to trigger the following effect with consuming rage: consume all bleed DOTs on a target that you've applied, deal 100% of remaining damage right away, and lower target's damage by 10% for 5 sec.Reduce target's damage to you by 2% per consumed bleeding DOT. Thunder Clap's cooldown resets. Thunderous Roar's CD speeds up by 1 sec.
Arms has a peculiar couple of bonuses. Sudden Death's upgrade is not something that will help you deal more damage at boss encounters, for example, but it might be very useful when you fight regular mobs. Fury gets loads of extra damage, nothing special here (although the bonuses are solid). And Protection gets lots of utility and damage with all that DOT-sucking. We surely like what it's shaping to look like!
