In Shadowlands you can use your Conquest points to purchase items from a vendor.
So it's actually good news because the item you're going to get is not random. But just reaching a cap doesn't guarantee you an item.
You can still get a weekly item though, but it requires farming not Conquest points but Rated Honor.
